  1. Adding Pictures to your Document

  5. Paste Picture
  6. To add a picture, click where you want to place the picture.  (If necessary add some carriage returns to open up space in the text.)  Then, select Paste Picture from the Edit menu.  (If the menu does not say Paste Picture, there is no picture in the clipboard to paste.)

  8. Picture Markers
  9. You will notice that Pageboy inserts a Picture Marker (a blue diamond) into the text.  The picture is drawn relative to this marker.  To move the marker (and the picture) click on the picture and drag it to a new location.  As you drag the picture, notice the caret also moves, indicating the new location of the marker.  The markers are hidden when you Build Standalone (or Preview Standalone.)

  11. Picture Alignment
  12. When you first paste a picture from the clipboard, it appears centered on the line which you clicked.  You may change the alignment in one of two ways...

  14. 1) Click on the picture to select it, then choose Center, Left, or Right from the Picture-Align menu.

  16. 2) Or, drag the picture where you want it, and it becomes Free aligned, always drawn with the current relationship to the marker.

  18. I recommend that you generally use the first method.  (It ensures predictable placement of the picture if the user resizes the Pageboy window.)  You can, however, achieve similar results by keeping the picture near the marker.  Notice that whenever you drag a picture it becomes Free aligned.

  20. Should the picture ever become 'lost' (out of bounds)  use Select Next to locate the 'lost' picture, then choose Center from the Picture-Align menu.

  22. Selecting a Picture
  23. To Select a picture, click on it.  You may also choose Select Next (or the command-N menu equivalent) from the picture menu.  Once you have selected a picture, the other options in the Picture menu become active.  Since each page may contain many pictures, selecting a picture let's Pageboy know which one you are working with.
